2019-2021 — autonomously led an optimisation project to standardise and automate a key control across the business. Scope included 15 departments, software solutions, framework and process creation, and end-to-end governance and training. AGILE & ADDIE principles used.

Risk & Governance Advisor

Suncorp Group

June 2017 – ongoing. Melbourne, VIC

 

Overview:

Support and management of key risk and compliance requirements across Suncorp Insurance, creating overarching governance lens for risk services, strategies, frameworks, and processes.

Standardise and automate key control across Insurance, CFO and People & Culture.

 

Advisory Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the business to provide and maintain robust risk frameworks, processes and training material across Insurance by using knowledge of the industry operational environment, financial environment and expertise in risk management.

  • Understand the broader risk requirements (compliance, policy, legislative, regulatory, audit, reporting, and Business Continuity Management agenda and likely impacts).

  • Support the business Risk and Compliance Teams to develop and implement solutions that meet the business requirements and are aligned with strategy and standards at Insurance and Group levels.

  • Design and delivery of team governance model, and wider business governance advice in conjunction with capability mapping.

  • Supporting the management of governance process documentation.

Overview:

Support and management of key risk and compliance categories across Suncorp (CP) division creating the advice services strategy and frameworks with management and ensuring it is embedded into the applicable departments.

 

Advisory Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the business to provide and maintain robust advice services frameworks across CP by using knowledge of the industry operational environment, financial environment and expertise in risk management. This includes requirements for personal advice, general advice and no advice operations.

  • Understand the broader risk requirements (compliance, policy, legislative, regulatory, audit, reporting, and Business Continuity Management agenda and likely impacts).

  • Support the Business Rules Team to develop and implement solutions that meet the business requirements, and are aligned with strategy and standards at CP and Group levels.

Overview:

Opportunity to assist Suncorp Bank with similar requirements arose from previous project, primarily consisting of creating new process and procedure manuals to reflect the department’s future state.

 

Technical Writing Responsibilities:

  • Document identification and gap analysis of current process to ensure change impact was noted and deployed to new procedures.

  • Creation of new procedures to reflect both current and future state guides where applicable.

Position was required to assist the Commonwealth Bank with creating new guides and updating old procedures to reflect transition of legacy systems into a new one.

 

Technical Writing Responsibilities:

  • Document identification and analysis of current process and procedures listed on intranet site to ensure impacted procedures were flagged and updated as applicable.

  • Update existing procedures to reflect changes where applicable due to implementation of new system.

  • Creation of new procedures for business units introducing new payment system to their area.

  • Creation of user guides.

  • Creation of internal operating procedure for on-boarding of new business units.

  • Review and modification of training material.

Overview:

Collaborate, design and implement the project framework for the upcoming release of The NSW Treasury Managed Fund (‘TMF’) tender for Workers Compensation (‘WC’), General Claims Management (‘GCM’ - consisting of General Liability, Property and Motor), Health Liability and Risk Services.

 

Framework objectives included:

  • Identification of stakeholders, engagement plan, working party timeline, resourcing, budget, working party, competitor analysis, tender approach, risk analysis and dependencies, and business model mapping.

 

Technical Writing Responsibilities:

  • Analysis of previous contract service offering:

  • Review of contractual faults, non-performance and non-deliverables.

  • Review of best practice procedures and areas of optimal service output.

  • Gap analysis of findings.

  • Documentation and analysis of current department structure vs. future-state department structure and all affected interdependencies that would arise:

  • Process mapping of current and future-state teams and department structure.

  • Presentation and design

  • Process mapping – including the utilisation of Visio.

 

Advisory Responsibilities:

  • Resourcing impacts to structural change.

  • Initial risk analysis and reporting to Change Management for potential staff impacts due to structural change.

  • Rates are inclusive of GST

  • Rates include travel/commute time and can be negotiated/scaled for 'work from home' flexibility
